Staff Member Spotlight: Yurvette

Yurvette works with our Adult Community Day Service program as our Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP). Yurvette says that most people do not know that she is also a hopeless romantic, and loves romantic action movies! She said she initially found out about the DSP position from her sister, and started at our agency part-time, eventually moving to full time, and has been a valued team member for nearly 28 years.

Yurvette says working with her fellow Direct Support Professionals, along with the participants, is her greatest inspiration. When asked what her favorite thing is about being a DSP, Yurvette said, “Being able to see the participants every day”. She said that the individuals she works with every day make her smile, and we know that they smile every day because of her.

Cassie Farley, Director of Adult Services, said, “Yurvette is extremely passionate about what she does. She is a team player, and there is nothing she would not do for our participants or her co-workers. We are so grateful to have her on our team.” Yurvette says the best advice she can give to someone who just started working here is to “Hang in there!” She says she motivates herself by putting God first, and is most proud of being a member of the UCP-Center for Disability Services staff, and the amazing work done here every day. She says she has grown professionally here at the agency from a part-time employee, to the DSP Union President, and lead DSP for the Community Day Services program.

Yurvette is a valued member of the UCP-Center for Disability Services team, and we are extremely honored to have her as a staff member. Her passion for working with our adult participants, paired with her positivity, get-it-done attitude, and love and support for our mission is such an inspiration to all of us. We deeply appreciate her years of service, dedication, and ongoing efforts to empower our adult participants to live their best lives. Thank you Yurvette for all you do!
